Antique Chinese Wooden Door Panel

An antique Chinese door panel crafted from solid elm wood, originally part of a traditional courtyard residence.

Composed of vertical elm planks and reinforced with iron fittings, the door embodies the restrained strength characteristic of vernacular Chinese architecture. The simplicity of the wooden field is framed by patterned iron edging, both decorative and structural in function.

Doors such as this marked important thresholds within the home — symbolizing protection, transition, and harmony. Today, it stands as a sculptural architectural fragment, valued for its honest materiality and beautifully weathered patina.

Note: The piece will be lightly touched up and conditioned by our restoration team prior to delivery.
