Born in Denmark in 1989 and raised in the cultural crossroads of Bangkok, Jesper Kirketerp is a sculptor whose life and work embody the fusion of East and West. His creative journey began in earnest in London, where he studied at Wimbledon College of Art, part of University of the Arts London, earning a BA (Hons) in Technical Arts and Special Effects.

This diverse background is central to Jesper’s artistic voice. His work draws from a unique interplay between mechanical precision and emotive storytelling. Influenced by the raw expressiveness of artists like Jean-Michel Basquiat and the anatomical obsession of H.R. Giger, Jesper’s sculptures exist at the intersection of organic form and industrial force. They are tactile, emotionally charged, and rooted in a deep respect for craft and materials.
Jesper’s artistic vision is shaped by a fascination with anatomy, science fiction, machinery, and nature—sources that spark curiosity and inform his approach to distortion, tension, and narrative in physical form. His influences are wide-ranging, from illustrators Phil Hale and Ralph Steadman to sculptors such as Javier Marín, Aron Demetz, and Paul Komoda.

Outside of his studio practice, Jesper is devoted to the art of restoration—breathing new life into forgotten or damaged objects. This philosophy of repair is not just a hobby but a mindset that permeates his sculptural work, where texture and form are often manipulated to suggest a process of transformation, survival, or rebirth.
Jesper Kirketerp is more than an artist; he’s a storyteller through sculpture, capturing the dualities of life—modern and ancient, organic and mechanical, broken and restored—with striking intensity. At Surround Living, we are proud to present Jesper’s work as part of our curated collection, celebrating craftsmanship, narrative, and the quiet power of reinvention.
