Antique Chinese Elm Door with Iron Studwork

An antique Chinese door panel crafted from solid pine wood, retaining faint traces of its original red lacquer surface.The vertical plank construction is accented with hand-forged iron nails arranged in floral motifs — both decorative and symbolic. These flower-form studs not only reinforced the structure but also conveyed auspicious meaning, as red lacquered doors were traditionally associated with protection, prosperity, and status.The remaining fragments of red pigment, now softened by time, reveal the door’s former vibrancy and offer a rare glimpse into its original architectural presence. Today, it stands as a sculptural fragment rich in texture and historical character.
