About

Swat Valley Low Chest in Carved Cedar

A beautifully carved low chest from the Swat Valley region of Northern Pakistan, crafted from aromatic Himalayan cedar wood. This form—long, low, and richly decorated—traditionally served as a household storage chest, prized both for its utility and its symbolic carved motifs.

The front panels feature deeply incised geometric and floral medallions, a hallmark of Swat craftsmanship, while the warm red-and-black finish gives the piece a striking presence. With its elongated silhouette and time-worn patina, the chest stands as both a sculptural object and a functional storage piece, carrying with it generations of regional artistry.
