About

Newly Made Sarouk Persian Carpet Rug | 250 x 350cm

Hand-knotted with 100% natural wool on a cotton base, approximately 3.5m x 2.5m in size.
Sarouk carpets trace their origins to the desert regions of central Iran, where weaving began in the late 19th century. Their international acclaim came when American collectors discovered them — captivated by their curvilinear and floral motifs. To suit Western tastes, many were redyed in the United States in rich raspberry tones, giving rise to the celebrated “painted Sarouk” style.

The finest examples come from the small village of Ghiasabad, where weaving remains a way of life for local families. Typical colours include shades of salmon or tomato red, balanced with ivory and blue, forming elegant floral compositions. Renowned for their dense weave, supple wool, and exceptional durability, Sarouk carpets are among the most enduring and collectible Persian rugs ever produced.
