About

Chinese Lacquered Box

A traditional Chinese lacquered snack box, used for storing and serving small delicacies such as nuts, sweets, seeds, or festival treats.

Compact and practical in form, boxes of this type were often brought out during family gatherings, celebrations, or tea service. The layered black and red lacquer finish reflects long-standing decorative traditions, where contrasting colours symbolized auspiciousness and refinement.

The worn surface and visible lacquer layers reveal years of handling and use, giving the piece a richly textured character.
