Ban Pa Ao Pendant - Coiled Rice Husk Blue

In collaboration with Robert Sukrachand and the Ban Pa Ao Brass Community, Ubon Ratchathani. This sculptural pendant is the result of a thoughtful collaboration between designer Robert Sukrachand and the master brass artisans of Ban Pa Ao in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand. Each piece is hand-cast without molds or modern machinery, using techniques passed down through generations.The form is organic and expressive, bearing the subtle irregularities of its handmade origin. Its distinctive Rice Husk Blue patina — a speckled, atmospheric finish — is achieved by burning local rice husks, a time-honoured process unique to the region.

Each Ban Pa Ao light is uniquely hand-cast using ancient, mold-free techniques. The rice husk patination process creates rich, organic textures — ensuring no two pieces are alike. Variations in colour and surface are part of the lamp’s character and charm.
