About

1940 Anglo-Indian Royal Colonial Peacock High Back Armchairs - Set of 2

Originating from 1940s Gujarat, India, this exquisite pair of Anglo-Indian high-back armchairs embodies elegance and cultural symbolism. Each chair showcases two intricately carved peacocks perched at the top, holding betel nuts in their beaks—a traditional symbol of hospitality and grace. The high backrest is adorned with a stunning sunburst motif, representing vitality and radiance. The armrests and legs feature elegant colonial-style carvings, blending Indian craftsmanship with British colonial design influences. Adding to their charm, the original upholstery displays a vibrant sun-orange colour with intricate paisley patterns, offering a luxurious and timeless appeal. These chairs are not just functional seating but also striking decorative pieces that reflect the rich heritage and artistic tradition of Anglo-Indian design. Perfect for adding a royal touch to any living space, they are a true celebration of refined craftsmanship.
