About

Traditional Chinese Grand Ming Living Room Bench Sofa - Reproduction

A Chinese reproduction Ming-style bench from the same master-crafted collection that was selected as a model for H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s project to preserve traditional tree-sap colouring techniques. Crafted by Kongka Furniture over an extended period, this piece reflects the highest level of heritage workmanship the atelier is known for.

Hand-carved from solid hardwood and embellished with mother-of-pearl inlay, the bench showcases intricate lattice work, framed pictorial panels, and auspicious motifs deeply rooted in classical Chinese design. The refined fretwork backrest and the graceful rounded base — built using traditional joinery — highlight both decorative excellence and structural integrity.

Created with time-honoured woodcraft, natural lacquer finishing, and meticulous carving, this bench represents a remarkable blend of cultural artistry and functional elegance. Though originally part of a larger collection, it is offered here as a single, independent masterpiece.

Note: This piece is a brand-new reproduction of antique Chinese furniture, created with modern craftsmanship while honoring historical design traditions.
