An antique cedar wood chest from the Waziristan region, on the border of Afghanistan and West Pakistan. Crafted in the late 19th century, this chest exemplifies the tribal woodworking traditions of the area—robust, geometric, and richly adorned with symbolic motifs meant to protect the home.

The exterior features hand-applied brass studs arranged in rhythmic patterns, creating both ornament and reinforcement. Turned corner posts and an inset front panel decorated with incised and dotted motifs highlight the craftsmanship characteristic of Waziri and Pashtun woodwork. The interior offers functional storage, while the removable studded panel enhances its sculptural presence. A rare, character-rich piece that blends cultural heritage with timeless design.
