About

Punjab Painted Chest Commode

A striking early 20th-century Punjab chest that has been thoughtfully transformed into a functional commode while preserving its original decorative character. The façade features a rhythmic grid of raised roundels framed by carved geometric borders, all finished in warm tones of ochre, amber, and soft red. Resting on turned legs with finial posts, the piece retains its distinctive architectural presence. The interior has been adapted to include two large drawers, two narrower drawers, and a central double-door compartment — blending traditional craftsmanship with modern usability.
