Pair of Chinese Carved Hardwood Wall Panels.

A finely carved pair of Chinese hardwood wall panels featuring the auspicious characters 壽 (Shou, longevity) and 福 (Fu, good fortune) in open relief against a geometric diaper ground.

Each panel is surmounted by a stylized mythical beast mask with scrolling ornament and enclosed within a moulded frame, while the lower section is finished with a simple mountain-shaped motif. Small metal hanging loops at the top indicate they were intended for wall display.

The richly patinated wood enhances the depth of carving and natural grain. Retaining original metal hanging loops.
