This Chinese carved camphor wood chest, likely from the late 19th to early 20th century, was crafted from camphor wood, prized for its durability and natural resistance to pests and moisture. During the colonial era and post-World War periods, they became highly popular export pieces to Europe and America, often brought back by Western travelers and soldiers. This piece is very well kept, showing natural antique aging, with details visible in the pictures.
