About

Deep Cobolt Blue Chinese Foo Dogs (Guardian Lions) - Set of 4

Guardian lions, often referred to as foo dogs, were traditionally placed in pairs to protect sacred and domestic spaces, symbolising strength, stability, and prosperity. This rare grouping of four presents a striking interpretation, each lion modelled with stylised features and seated upon squared plinths. Glazed in a deep cobalt blue, they embody both cultural symbolism and bold decorative appeal. Notably, this set demonstrates exceptionally rare craftsmanship, with intricate carving and detail that lends each guardian a vivid presence. Once protectors of thresholds, today they serve as sculptural accents, bringing both a sense of protection and a vibrant flourish of colour to contemporary interiors.
