Antique Japanese Kutani Landscape Vase

This elegant silver-plated bowl is richly adorned with a chrysanthemum motif rendered in high relief, a flower long associated in East Asian culture with longevity, renewal, and refinement. The exterior surface features densely worked scrolling foliage and layered petals that create a sense of depth and movement, while the bowl rests on a neatly finished foot decorated with a classic key-fret band. Both decorative and functional, the piece reflects refined craftsmanship and traditional symbolism.

Condition

Good antique condition with age-appropriate wear. The glaze exhibits natural crazing throughout, consistent with old Kutani ware. Minor surface wear is present, with no significant chips or structural damage observed.

Materials & Techniques

Porcelain with underglaze and overglaze enamels, hand-painted with fine brushwork and finished with selective gilt detailing. Fired and glazed using traditional Kutani ceramic techniques.
