Born in Denmark but a Thai at heart, Jesper’s early life unfolded in the vibrant streets of Bangkok, Thailand, before embarking on an artistic journey that would take him to London. In 2007, he moved to the UK to pursue a formal education in the arts at Wimbledon College of Art, part of the prestigious University of the Arts London. With a fascination with the world of creation, he earned his FDA in Fine Art, followed by a BA (Hons) in Technical Arts and Special Effects, from which he graduated in July 2011.

From an early age, Jesper developed a keen eye for both aesthetics and function. His deep curiosity about how objects work, combined with a relentless drive for refinement, shaped him into an artist who thrives on solving complex problems through creativity. This mindset fuels his artistic process, drawing inspiration from a wide range of sources: mechanics, science fiction, anatomy, natural elements, creatures, insects, and machines.

Whether it’s the bold, chaotic strokes of Ralph Steadman, the raw intensity of Jean-Michel Basquiat, or the biomechanical surrealism of H.R. Giger, Jesper's favorite artists reflect a deep connection to both the organic and the engineered.

In sculpture, Kirketerp draws inspiration from the hyper-realistic creations of Ron Mueck and the hybrid forms of Ji Yong Ho, both of which reflect his fascination with the tension between reality and imagination. During his time at Wimbledon College of Art, Jesper’s education covered a broad range of technical disciplines, forming the foundation of his artistic practice. From carpentry and metal fabrication to life sculpting and scale model-making, he developed hands-on expertise in various materials and techniques. His work frequently combines metalworking, mold-making, casting, fiber glassing, and welding—each piece showcasing a balance of precision and creativity.

With a strong foundation in technical artistry and an enduring passion for innovation, Jesper strives to explore new creative boundaries, turning ideas into tangible realities.
