About
A Visionary of Color, Form & Reimagined Materials
Thaiwijit Puengkasemsomboon is a leading contemporary Thai artist celebrated for his vibrant abstract expressionist paintings and inventive sculptural works created from recycled and found materials. Born in 1959 in Pattani, he studied Graphic Arts at Silpakorn University before furthering his artistic training at the prestigious Akademia Sztuk Pięknych w Krakowie.

Known for his bold compositions, joyful colour palettes, and dynamic brushwork, Thaiwijit approaches art with a sense of experimentation and play. His influences span primitive art, art brut, and African aesthetics, which he interprets through a personal visual language that feels raw, intuitive, and full of movement.
A hallmark of his practice is his transformative use of everyday, discarded objects — wood scraps, metal pieces, cardboard, burlap, and industrial remnants.

Thaiwijit repurposes these materials into expressive artworks that blur the boundaries between painting, sculpture, and functional design. His philosophy centres on environmental consciousness and the belief that beauty, hope, and new life can emerge from the overlooked and the ordinary.
Thaiwijit’s works have been exhibited extensively across Thailand and internationally, in the United States, Canada, Germany, Italy, Poland, Australia, and Hong Kong. He was also featured in the Bangkok Art Biennale 2020, reaffirming his position as one of Thailand’s most dynamic and influential contemporary artists.
