Vintage Persian Turkoman Rug – Yomud Design | 150 x 103cm

A vintage Persian tribal rug in the Turkoman Yomud design, hand-knotted with natural wool on a cotton base. Measuring approximately 1.5m x 1.03m, it brings warmth and pattern to an entryway, bedroom or study.

Turkoman rugs are instantly recognisable for their deep red grounds and rows of repeating medallions known as guls, traditionally associated with the tribe that wove them. Here, three columns of ivory and rust-brown guls are set on a rich red field, with small cross-shaped motifs between them. A wide border of octagons and geometric panels, finished at each end with a band of slanting leaf-like motifs, frames the design.
