A refined example of a traditional Official’s Hat Armchair (Guanmaoyi 官帽椅), crafted in the classical Ming-inspired style. The chair features a sweeping crest rail with gently upturned ends, gracefully curved rear posts, and elegant continuous arms supported by shaped spandrels.

The back splat is decorated with a finely carved roundel medallion depicting mythical beasts in swirling movement—an auspicious motif associated with protection, vitality, and scholarly refinement. The solid hardwood showcases warm tones and expressive grain patterns reminiscent of huanghuali, giving the piece a rich, glowing presence.

Balanced proportions, fluid lines, and restrained ornamentation make this chair both sculptural and functional—a timeless statement piece suitable for contemporary interiors, collector homes, or Asian design enthusiasts.
