About

Burmese Lacquered Offering Tray with Lion Feet

This traditional Burmese offering tray was used for presenting food and offerings, both in temple rituals and domestic settings. The round tray form reflects everyday devotional practices in Myanmar, where lacquerware played an essential role in ceremonial and household life. Raised on three sculpted lion feet, the piece carries symbolic meaning — the lion (chinthe) is a protective figure in Burmese culture, associated with strength and guardianship. The richly aged red lacquer surface contrasts beautifully with the darker black underlayers, creating a striking visual depth that speaks to years of use and reverence.
