Vintage Persian Tribal Rug – Paisley (Boteh) Design | 140 x 110cm

A vintage Persian tribal rug in the traditional paisley design, hand-knotted with natural wool on a cotton base. Measuring approximately 1.4m x 1.1m, it is a compact piece well suited to an entryway, bedside or reading corner.

Rows of small paisley motifs, known in Persian weaving as boteh, cover a warm cream field in shades of burgundy, brown and rust. The boteh is one of the oldest and most recognisable motifs in Persian carpet design, often interpreted as a flame, a leaf or a seed. A navy-blue main border of rosettes and stylised flowers, softening to olive green at one end, frames the field between finely drawn floral guard bands.
