About

Vintage Persian Carpet – Paisley (Boteh) Design | 365 x 275 cm

A vintage Persian carpet, hand-knotted with wool and natural dyes on a cotton foundation and approximately 70 to 75 years old. Rows of paisley motifs, known in Persian weaving as boteh, run across a clean ivory field in shades of teal, green and rust. Often read as a sprouting bud, a flame or the tree of life, the boteh is one of the most recognisable motifs in Persian design. A matching paisley border completes this rare, calm and elegant piece.
