About

Large Burmese Wooden Flower Mandalay Decoration with Stand

A large Burmese carved wooden architectural roundel in the form of a stylised multi-petaled flower, centred on a raised circular boss and radiating layers of overlapping carved petals to a scalloped outer edge. Pieces of this scale and form were traditionally used as decorative elements within Mandalay-period temple or palace architecture. The substantial diameter and deep relief carving give it real sculptural presence, and it is mounted on a tall fitted stand for display as a freestanding piece or striking wall-adjacent object.
