About

Antique Dutch Willem III Display Cabinet

A superb 19th century Dutch Willem III mahogany display cabinet, the crest with an elaborately pierced and scrolled cartouche rising above a mirrored back panel flanked by carved scroll supports. The lower cabinet is fronted by a single glazed door with shaped, serpentine glass panels, opening to reveal four velvet-lined shelves ideal for displaying porcelain and decorative objects, flanked by mirrored side panels that enhance the sense of depth and light. Turned and beaded mouldings frame the case, which is raised on shaped cabriole legs terminating in scroll feet. A refined and richly detailed piece, exemplifying the Willem III style popular in Dutch furniture of the period.
