Crafted from pine wood and finished in aged black lacquer, it features a slanted lid for easy access and a front opening fitted with delicate carved brackets typical of southern Chinese scholar furniture. The chest sits on an integrated pedestal base, giving it a sense of quiet presence despite its modest scale. Timeworn surfaces and a naturally distressed lacquer patina reveal generations of handling and practical use.
