Antique Carved Burmese Chest with Gem Inlays

A richly ornate Tibetan ritual chest featuring exceptional high-relief carving across all sides. The surface is alive with scrolling clouds, lotus blossoms, protective dragons, and auspicious Buddhist emblems. The front showcases a flaming jewel motif above the original metal clasp, while the lid features a finely rendered deity figure surrounded by symbols of abundance and protection. Inlaid turquoise- and coral-coloured cabochons punctuate the composition, adding colour and sacred symbolism. Raised on shaped feet and finished with a deep, naturally aged patina, this chest would have been used for storing ritual objects, scriptures, or treasured family heirlooms. Today, it stands as a powerful sculptural object of Himalayan craftsmanship.
