About

Anglo-Indian Rosewood Carved Settee chair with Rattan Seating

This is a beautifully carved wooden chair, likely from the 19th century and possibly of Anglo-Indian or colonial origin. The intricate detailing on the backrest, including the floral and scroll motifs, suggests influences from both European and Indian craftsmanship.

The caned seat is a common feature in furniture from this period, as cane weaving was often used in colonial-era chairs to provide comfort and ventilation in warm climates. The turned legs and curved design elements further indicate a fusion of British Victorian and Indian artisanal styles.
