This striking antique storage chest from Western India features a solid wooden structure clad in hand-worked metal panels, richly textured with embossed and perforated geometric patterns. The front is fitted with a traditional iron lock plate and strap, while the sides retain their original iron carrying handles, reflecting its practical function as a secure storage trunk. The weathered metal surface reveals beautiful oxidized tones of blue-green and earthy brown, developed naturally over time, giving the piece a distinctive patina. Raised on sturdy carved feet and topped with a thick wooden lid reinforced with iron straps, the chest combines durability with decorative craftsmanship.
