Manomãn: A Story Woven from Intention, Craft, and Conscious Living

Manomãn: A Story Woven from Intention, Craft, and Conscious Living - Surround Living

Manomãn began the way many meaningful things do — quietly, and with a simple, genuine desire. Its founders never set out to chase trends or build a vast brand; rather, they wanted to create everyday pieces that feel good to live with. Textiles that soften a room, bring beauty to familiar rituals, and add a sense of calm to the spaces we return to every day. The table became their first canvas — a place where conversations unfold, meals are shared, and the rhythm of home truly takes shape.

What started as a table linen line soon evolved into a wider universe of considered home textiles: bedding, blankets, cushion covers, children’s quilts, robes, hand-embroidered accents, and seasonal collections made from leftover fabric. Each creation reflects the brand’s core belief that the home should be a place of presence — a space filled with fewer, better pieces that carry meaning and warmth.

Today, Surround Living sits down with founders Agne “Angles” and Ni “Thorns” to uncover the story behind Manomãn — its beginnings, its values, and the sustainable philosophy woven into everything they create.

What inspired the creation of Manomãn and its focus on sustainable tableware?

Manomãn began with a simple idea: to create everyday pieces that are both beautiful and functional. We’ve always believed that home textiles are one of the easiest ways to add character and mood to a space - to refresh a home with just a small touch. This naturally led us to explore table settings first, as the table is where daily life and shared moments truly happen. From there, the brand organically grew beyond the dining area.

Moving in a sustainable direction came very naturally to us - it was never really a question. From the beginning, we knew we wanted to work with natural, timeless materials and ethical production. Seeing how much waste exists in the textile industry only strengthened that intention. We wanted to rethink how tableware could be made: through natural materials, small-batch production, and mindful design. The table is where people gather, and we wanted to bring more intention, beauty, and responsibility into that space.

How do you define “sustainability” in the context of your design and production process?

For us, sustainability means long-term thinking - choosing materials that are natural, durable, and biodegradable, producing in small quantities, and designing pieces meant to last for years, not seasons. It’s about respecting resources, people, and time.

Can you share how your materials are sourced and what makes them 100% sustainable linen?

We work exclusively with natural linen and cotton sourced from responsible mills. Linen is inherently sustainable: it requires less water to grow, uses fewer chemicals, and is fully biodegradable. We also reuse our own fabric offcuts for smaller items and seasonal pieces to minimize waste.

What does “conscious living” mean to you as a brand and as a maker?

Conscious living is about slowing down and choosing with care -  what you bring into your home, how it’s made, and how long it stays with you. It’s about surrounding yourself with fewer, better things that carry meaning and purpose. And not only things - the same applies to the people we choose to let into our lives.
For us, it’s also deeply connected to presence. Whether at home, at work, or with friends, conscious living means being fully in the moment - moving with intention rather than on autopilot, and giving our undivided attention to what’s in front of us. As makers, it’s our responsibility to create pieces that support that way of living: thoughtful, useful, honest, and made to be part of everyday life.

How do you balance functionality, durability, and design in your linens?

Function always comes first - our pieces are made to be used daily. We test proportions, weight, and finishing carefully to ensure durability. Design is what elevates the experience, but never at the cost of usability.

Craftsmanship & Design

Can you walk us through the process of making a Manomãn tablecloth - from raw material to finished piece?

It begins with carefully selecting the linen, followed by several prototypes to test proportions, weight, and structure - from which we choose the final version. Each piece is then cut by hand and sewn in small batches in our studio. Every tablecloth is individually checked for quality and finished with careful detailing. Many designs also include hand embroidery, which adds a slow, human touch and makes each piece subtly unique.

What role does craftsmanship or handwork play in your production?

Handwork is at the heart of Manomãn. It gives each piece a subtle individuality - small variations that reflect the maker’s hands. It also allows us to keep production ethical, flexible, and personal.

Do your collections draw inspiration from Thai culture, nature, or other influences?

Yes - Thai nature and its earthy tones, as well as the calm, balanced way of living in Thailand, strongly influence our work. At the same time, we draw inspiration from Scandinavian simplicity, vintage textiles, and everyday rituals across different cultures. The result is a blend of warmth and minimalism that feels both grounded and timeless.

What is the signature aesthetic or hallmark detail that defines Manoman pieces?

Muted, comforting colors, clean lines, and subtle embroidery. Our pieces feel quiet but intentional - designed to blend into real homes while still feeling special.

How do you ensure that sustainability doesn’t compromise beauty or luxury?

We believe true luxury is created through quality, time, and thoughtful materials. Natural fibers age beautifully, handcrafted details feel richer, and timeless design never feels outdated.

You began with a focus on tableware and have now expanded into bedding - including a charming line for children. What inspired this evolution of the brand?

Our customers gradually began inviting Manomãn into more parts of their homes. We started receiving more and more custom order requests for bedding, curtains, and other home textiles, and at some point we realized we were ready to expand beyond the table. The transition felt both natural and exciting.
Today, we create tableware, adult and children’s bedding, blankets and cushion covers, robes, and most recently, a Christmas ornament collection.

What’s next?

We’re continuing to explore soft furnishings, window textiles, and limited hand-embroidered accents - always staying within natural materials and small-batch production. Hand embroidery, in particular, has become one of the most exciting directions for us. It draws a lot of attention from our customers and brings a great deal of creative fulfillment to our work. It allows us to experiment, tell small stories through textiles, and keep a strong human touch at the core of what we create.

Holiday & Gifting Season

What makes your table linens the perfect choice for holiday entertaining?

They’re designed for real gatherings - durable, washable, relaxed, yet refined. Our linens bring warmth to the table without feeling formal or delicate. They uplift the spirit, elevate the overall experience, and at the same time allow the host to add a creative, personal touch to the tablescape.

How can customers style Manomãn pieces for festive gatherings or dinner parties?

Start by choosing your direction. For a classic, timeless look, turn to neutral-toned pieces from our core collections. If you’re aiming for something more expressive, layer classic tablecloths with embroidered accents - they speak volumes while remaining easy to style and never overwhelming the space.
We suggest selecting a few meaningful and original ceramic pieces for candlesticks, water jars, salt and pepper shakers, or salad bowls. For cutlery and dinnerware, it’s best to keep things classic and simple, as full sets are harder to mix and change compared to smaller decorative elements like candlesticks.
And finally, be creative with the finishing details. Let your imagination add unexpected touches - tomatoes, squashes, limes, or even bread loaves can easily become candle holders or small table sculptures. Play with greenery too: eucalyptus or conifer branches look beautiful on their own and even more special when combined with delicate, small-flowered stems.

Do you have any favorite holiday table styling tips or color combinations this year?

Natural linen paired with deep blues, forest green, and soft creamy whites is our favorite direction this year. It feels both festive and timeless. This is exactly where our newest Blue Nocturne collection shines - adding depth, contrast, and a quiet sense of magic to the holiday table.

What’s your idea of a perfect holiday table setting?

Soft lighting, mismatched ceramics, linen that’s meant to be touched, and a table filled with food meant to be shared - nothing overly styled, everything intentional.

Are there any new seasonal colors, patterns, or limited editions we should look out for?

Our latest Blue Nocturne collection is truly special for the season. Each piece is hand-embroidered, which makes the collection naturally very limited and adds even more depth and character to every item.
We’ve also just launched our holiday ornament collection, designed to work beautifully both as Christmas tree decorations and as final accents for festive floral arrangements. They are soft and break-free, making them ideal for lively homes with children and pets. They’re also made from our own fabric offcuts, bringing us closer to our zero-waste goal.
Looking ahead, we’re currently working on scaling up our hand embroidery to larger formats - including blankets, tablecloths, and curtains. This is a very exciting next step for us, as it allows us to bring the same detailed craftsmanship into more impactful statement pieces for the home.

Looking Ahead

How do you envision the future of sustainable homeware in Thailand?

We see a growing shift toward mindful consumption - customers are becoming more curious about materials, origins, and longevity. Sustainability is moving from niche to necessity.

What’s next for Manomãn in the coming year?

We’re expanding our textile categories, deepening our B2B collaborations, and continuing to refine what we do best: bringing thoughtful, functional design into everyday living.

At a time when the pace of life can feel overwhelming, Manomãn offers an antidote — a return to slowness, to intention, to the quiet beauty of handmade things. Their linens are more than just objects; they are gentle invitations to pause, gather, and be present. From the table to the bedroom, each creation speaks to a way of living that honours craftsmanship, sustainability, and soul. As Manomãn continues to expand its universe, Surround Living is proud to walk alongside them, sharing their vision with a community that values authenticity, artistry, and the subtle joy of a well-loved home.
