About

Fujian, Chazhou Black Lacquered Carved Lohan Daybed with Detailed Scenic Paintings

This antique Chinese opium bed, likely from the Qing Dynasty (1644–1912) or early Republic era, exemplifies exquisite craftsmanship with its hand-carved frame, detailed painted panels, and woven rattan sleeping surface. Traditionally used as a daybed or opium bed in aristocratic Chinese households, it features ornate curved backrests with intricate storytelling scenes, gold-painted relief carvings, and clawed feet with decorative gilt accents. The black lacquered finish and naturally aged patina enhance its historical authenticity, making it a statement piece for collectors or interior spaces.
